Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the São Jorge Castle and the Tejo river.
You will be the center of Fado birthplace, surrounded by the Church of Santa Engracia (National Pantheon), Fado Museum, wonderful independent restaurants and sleeping in São Jorge Castle shadow.
At night you will dream of being in the army of the first Portuguese King (Dom Afonso Henriques), waiting to assault the Moorish castle :-)

28 Tram at your doorstep, Metro at 5 minutes walking... but the location allows you to explore most of Lisbon by feet :)
